For our very first stop, we visited Nana’s Ice Cream Shop in Atascadero — and we couldn't have picked a sweeter place to kick things off!
The Story Behind Nana’s
Nana’s may be a newer addition to Atascadero, but the story behind the name goes back generations.
The shop was named after the owner’s great-grandmother, who absolutely loved ice cream and ate it every single day until she passed away. We loved hearing that the name of the shop has such a special family connection behind it.
When it came time to find a home for Nana’s, Atascadero felt like the right fit. The owner loved this specific location and was drawn to the strong local community and support for small businesses.
More Than Just Ice Cream
Of course, there’s plenty of ice cream, but Nana’s has some other local touches we loved learning about too.
Their organic coffee is sourced locally from Santa Margarita, and on the weekends you can also find Just Baked treats at Nana’s — one of the only places outside of Paso Robles where you can pick them up.
It’s exactly the kind of local collaboration we love seeing throughout North County.
